‘Board games are generally table games requiring some physical pieces to be moved as per the defined rule on the placed table board. There are many types of board games played across the globe since the ancient times such as checkers, Pachisi, Senet, noughts and crosses, Tafl games, and Cluedo.’

Different parts of the world invented and played their own board games. Some countries have even adapted their own versions of the already existing game. It is very interesting to know how these games have evolved over time.

Board games are widely played by many German households regardless of their age group. They can also bring young and old family members together at the gaming table or it can bring all the roommates living in a flatshare (WG). But there are two special Board games which are the highlight of this article! So let’s find out what makes them so special.

Although numerous new games are presented at the German games fair (Deutschen Spielemesse) every year, and despite Wii, Xbox One, and Playstation 4, board games are very popular. The mother of all board games are, ‘Mensch ärgere Dich nicht’ and ‘Leiterspiel’. If you are wondering what these long German names are, then they are nothing but ‘Ludo’ and ‘Snakes & Ladder’, which I’m sure many of us already know.
